Don’t say a word don’t even try to explain what kept you out so late this evening For I have heard enough of your lies you’ve used one excuse too many to believe in I can’t believe the feelings I once had for you now there's a suitcase in the corner that screams for your clothes For I've finally come to see what I want you to do There's a bus on the corner take it as far as it goes But don't say a word don't even try to explain the way you think things ought to be For I have heard enough of your lies you've used one excuse too many for me I used to get so tired waiting up for you while your late nights just got later all the time Now I've just grown tired of you trying to make me blue It’s too late now to change my mind So don't say a word don't even try to explain what you can do to make things right For I have heard enough of your lies You've used one excuse too many tonight For I have heard enough of your lies You've used one excuse too many, your words sound so empty You've used one excuse too many tonight

Please leave my darling alone I saw your roving eye light on my baby While we were all out dancing tonight And I saw the way you flirted with that lady Let me tell you Mister it ain't right I know you could have your choice of all the lovely girls But for me she is the only one So please leave my darling alone It's not fair you could come here With your fancy clothes and things And turn the heart of someone else's girl Take a love I thought was strong enough to buy the ring And use it to destroy my very world She's my only chance of lasting happiness And my life would be a mess if she were gone So please leave my darling alone I saw your roving eye light on my baby While we were all out dancing tonight And I saw the way you flirted with that lady Let me tell you Mister it ain't right I know you could pick and choose whatever girl appeals to you But for me she is the only one So please leave my darling alone Please leave my darling alone, Please leave my darling alone

All Alone 04:51
I'm all alone in this cold, wicked world. No-one to call my own I gave it all for the love of a girl who very soon was gone, gone, gone All alone without a friend to comfort me when I’m blue I lost the one true love I’d known when she broke my heart in two I used to believe She was the girl for me and together we would grow old How could I know She’d hurt me so and her love would grow so cold I fell out of touch with folks who meant so much and gave all my attention to her Now no-one’s there with a shoulder to spare on which to cry these bitter tears I'm all alone in this cold, wicked world. No-one to call my own I gave it all for the love of a girl who very soon was gone, gone, gone All alone without a friend to comfort me when I’m blue I lost the one true love I’d known when she broke my heart in two I can’t comprehend why our love had to end when I thought that she was the one It hurt to discover our romance was over before it had even begun I felt from the start that ‘til death do us part was a vow we could easily make It was my fate to find out too late I was making my greatest mistake For she was not the marrying kind, could not be faithful to me I only wish I’d realised before I was destined to be All alone in this cold, wicked world. No-one to call my own I gave it all for the love of a girl who very soon was gone, gone, gone All alone without a friend to comfort me when I’m blue I lost the one true love I’d known when she broke my heart in two Hmm… she broke my heart in two

I close my eyes against the morning light as another day of loneliness begins Wondering why, if things were going so right, I’m left without her loving again I could cry until I hurt my eyes but I’m just wasting good water and salt And if I die because I can’t live without her, it’s no-one else’s fault It’s just one of those get up in the morning, stretching and yawning, stumbling downstairs in a haze Trying to stay awake and finding myself shaking feeling forsaken kind of days I close my eyes so I don’t have to see those dirty dishes piling tall It won’t be long till I forget to eat then the squalor won’t bother me at all I could lie and say I don’t miss her, I don’t care if she never comes home But behind the pretence of laughter I’m still left here all alone Facing one of those late in the evening, crying and grieving, seeing it all in a different light Drowning my sorrow, can’t face tomorrow, pining for her kind of nights I close my eyes against the coming night as the darkness closes in Wondering why, if things were going so right, I’m left without her loving again

I can’t believe that you’d really leave. I thought the love we had was doing just fine Now way too late you’re telling me that you’ve got another sweetheart on your mind I couldn’t see that you were acting strange. I couldn’t understand the warning signs. I just don’t know when you began to change but you’ve got another sweetheart on your mind There ain’t no use me telling you the way I feel today You’re only going to take my heart and break it anyway How could it be that I could be so blind. Now you’ve got another sweetheart on your mind I believed that your sinful heart was true. I thought you’d always say that you were mine But now my dreams are battered and blue for you’ve got another sweetheart on your mind You’ve got another sweetheart on your mind

Oh the water of life is golden brown It picks me up when I feel down Lord I wish that I could drown In the water of life... so golden brown It don't come from a faucet it don't come from a stream It don't fall from the mountains or follow rivers to the sea It don't come from the oceans like waves upon the sand It just comes from this bottle that I'm holding in my hand Oh the water of life is golden brown It picks me up when I feel down Lord I wish that I could drown In the water of life... so golden brown It don't come from an oasis in a desert burning bright It don't fall from the heavens like raindrops in the night It don't come from the great lakes in some far off northern land It just comes from this bottle that I'm holding in my hand Oh the water of life is golden brown It picks me up when I feel down Lord I wish that I could drown In the water of life... so golden brown

There you go acting like a stranger causing me all kinds of pain For I don’t know what you’re trying to say Or why you feel this way And I can’t shake... This feeling of danger You’re acting like a stranger again today Why should you act so cold my dear Do you want to make me cry I only want to hold you near but I'm afraid to try It seems your love for me is dying it weakens by the day And I can’t help but wonder why you have to act this way, but There you go acting like a stranger causing me all kinds of pain For I don’t know what you’re trying to say Or why you feel this way And I can’t shake... This feeling of danger You’re acting like a stranger again today Once we were so content and everything was fine Now it’s like you never meant it when You promised to be mine I Don’t know where the time has gone It's passed so quickly now I thought nothing could go wrong Now my world’s tumbling down, And There you go acting like a stranger causing me all kinds of pain For I don’t know what you’re trying to say Or why you feel this way And I can’t shake... This feeling of danger You’re acting like a stranger again today You’re acting like a stranger again today

Nestled in a valley of rolling hills by the side of a river are some cotton mills And it’s nigh on thirty years since they shut down It was back in sixty-eight that the factory finally closed it’s gates And turned this place into a real ghost town With no work to do folks moved away and the town fell into a state of decay Until one day some bright spark came around He said there ain’t no gold in them there hills but there’s money in them cotton mills If we turn this place into a real ghost town We’ll make one of those mills a hotel and another one will do real well If we fill it’s shell with a shopping mall And the last of all we’ll strip inside and replace it with a fairground ride So folks can come and have themselves a ball Yes they decided history is a million dollar industry and they love to see you lay your money down They’ll slap your heritage on a plate and serve it to you while you wait Ain’t it great inside a real ghost town Now one of those mills is a hotel and another one’s doing real well Since they filled it’s shell with a shopping mall And the last of all they’ve stripped inside and replaced it with a fairground ride So come along and have yourself a ball Yes step right up and meet your host she’s a real-life genuine man-made ghost From coast to soast her legend is renowned People come from far and near and there’s hundreds of thousands every year They all want to hear about a real ghost town And we’d love to see you here inside a real ghost town

You told me you were leaving with the morning light and I hung my head and cried There was nothing I could do to make things right but I'd like to have tried If you change your mind tomorrow I'll be waiting here just let me know just let me know I’d do anything to lose this sorrow that I feel just let me know just let me know You told me you were leaving and I couldn’t think of a single word I could say I knew it wouldn’t do no good but I felt like sinking to my knees to pray If you change your mind tomorrow I'll be waiting here just let me know just let me know I’d do anything to lose this sorrow that I feel just let me know just let me know Just let me know just let me know

You beg me to forgive you when you’ve done nothing wrong You ask if you can lean on me but I've never been that strong You can pour your heart out and I might just lend an ear but that's not what you came tonight to hear I don't want to say its over or that I've found someone new That's the kind of story that can only make you blue believe me that's the last thing that I want to do I can’t bear to sit here and watch you while you cry You beg me to come running when all I want to do is fly You turn around and tell me I might as well be free but its not the way I wanted it to be I don't want to say its over or that I've found someone new That's the kind of story that can only make you blue believe me that's the last thing that I want to do I guess the time has come for me to say goodbye you ask me where I'm going but you never ask me why We both know its wrong but we still don't know what's right but that's the way its got to be tonight that's the way its got to be tonight

I’ve never been the brightest star in God’s great universe but somehow my arithmetic has lately gotten worse For I can’t seem to figure out the answer but I know that two into three won’t go They tell me that the sum of parts is equal to the whole but somebody’s messing with your heart and he’s gotta be told For I’m so scared he’ll take away the love I’ve come to know and two into three won’t go Two into three won’t go without tearing one apart And I know the end result is gonna be a broken heart And you’re the one I’m counting on to just tell him no, tell him two into three won’t go I’ve never understood the rule of probability but someone’s being made a fool and it’s probably me Cause something doesn’t quite add up, the figures clearly show that two into three won’t go Two into three won’t go without leaving one behind to be the remainder of a love I thought was mine If you don’t want this division then you’ve got to tell him no, tell him two into three won’t go

Butt Out 03:36
Well if I start to thinking about doing a little drinking and I do it once or twice If my tongue gets thicker from too much liquor then, Brother, that’s my choice I don’t need you complaining, my head’s got a brain and I don’t need your advice So Butt Out, Butt Out, That’s what I’m telling you. Butt Out or there’s no telling what I’ll do I might lose my head and start seeing red and take it out on you If I’m too old or crazy to go chasing ladies through every Honky-Tonk in town Too fond of the good times and showing no sign of ever settling down Stop your hear a-bleeding I love the life I lead and I don’t need to see you frown So Butt Out, Butt Out that’s what I’m telling you. Butt Out or there’s no telling what I’ll do I may get me satisfaction but I might regret my actions if I take it out on you Well, it’s not that I’m an angry man or self-control I lack I just need my privacy so get the damn hell off my back Well you claim that you’re choking on this thing I’m smoking. Saying it’s bad for your health You’re giving me verbal for smoking something herbal that you can’t buy off the shelf Well, Brother, it’s made for sharing but you’re so overbearing that I’m gonna keep it to myself Butt Out, Butt Out that’s what I’m telling you. Butt Out or there’s no telling what I’ll do Oh, Lord I might lose my head and start seeing red and take it out on you I may get me satisfaction but I might regret my actions if I take it out on you

about

John Miller and his Country Casuals Glasgow, UK

Miller’s a traditional country singer; there’s no gimmicks and no newfangled twists. If he can be dubbed alternative these days it’s because he cleaves to the verities, sure in the power and emotion of his own voice...
Consequently he’s the purest country singer practising his art on these islands, and the finest
